ABOUT THE STATUES
- The Buddha is seated on a lotus base and is in the bhumisparsa mudra or ground-touching pose.
- In the earth-touching mudra, which he is performing with his right hand on his knee, the Buddha is asking Gaya, mother earth, to witness his enlightenment.
- The Buddha is positioned in padmasana, also referred to as the full lotus pose.
- This is the deep meditation leg posture.
